AAIS lines of business

Rate a dealer's stock and equipment

Equipment Dealers was the first AAIS product on the SelectRate platform and it is still the clearest demonstration of the model: the filing underneath, your company values on top, and a worksheet that shows which is which.

What Equipment Dealers covers

Equipment Dealers covers a dealer's stock of equipment held for sale or rent, and the equipment the dealer uses in the business. It is a compact filing, which is exactly why it makes a good first program to configure and a good test of a rating platform.

On SelectRate it is configuration rather than code. The filed content is maintained for you and is read only. What your carrier has authorized, the loss cost multiplier, the deductible selections and the modification factors, is your program.

What SelectRate rates on this line

Everything below is rated on the filed AAIS methodology. Where the filing leaves a value to the company, it is a value your program supplies, and the worksheet names it as yours.

Filed loss costs by state

Maintained as governed content, effective dated, read only.

Company multiplier

Your authorized loss cost multiplier, versioned and effective dated.

Deductibles

The filed deductible schedule with your program selections.

Modification factors

The judgment factors the filing leaves to the company, inside the bounds the filing sets.

Refer to company

The conditions the filing sends to an underwriter, rather than a silent assumption.

New business and renewal

Both transactions rate on this product, each on the versions in force at its own effective date.

Effective dates that behave correctly

A commercial premium is rated on the content in force on the effective date, not the content in force today. Equipment Dealers carries more than one effective dated loss cost edition in several states, and a quote for a past date resolves the edition that genuinely applied.

That is what makes a renewal correct rather than convenient. A renewal rates on the versions in force at the renewal date, and the expiring term keeps the versions it was written on.

Start from the standard

Nobody should have to build a Equipment Dealers program from an empty screen. Every organization on SelectRate has a Standard Equipment Dealers: a governed program sitting directly on the published AAIS foundation, ready to inspect and test.

It tells you where you actually stand. Which states are in force. Which are ready to rate now. Which are waiting on a company value, and exactly which value. You run Program Test on it, and when you are ready you create your own program from it.

The Standard Program also carries ready made sample transactions. Open one, rate it, change an input and rate it again. It is the quickest way to understand how Equipment Dealers behaves before you configure anything of your own.

How Standard Programs and versions work

Standard Equipment Dealers

One per organization. Inspect the states, see what is ready and what needs a company value, and run Program Test.

Your program

Created from the standard, with your company values, adoption dates and authorized deviations on top.

Configure what makes your program different

Your Equipment Dealers program is the part the filing leaves to the company: the loss cost multiplier where one applies, the selections inside the bounds the filing sets, adoption dates and any deviation your carrier has authorized. The filed content underneath is not yours to change and not yours to maintain.

Configuration happens in Program Studio as a draft, and a draft is tested before it becomes real. Program Test prefills a known good Equipment Dealers scenario, so the first test you run is a real one rather than a form you have to invent. Review lists exactly what a version changes against what is published, state by state, and publication is a decision a person makes.

A published version is immutable. Every quote, policy and worksheet records the version it rated with, so a premium stays reproducible after the program has moved on.

The Workbench adapts to the rating product

Underwriter Workbench does not carry a hand built screen per line. The intake comes from the rating product itself, so Equipment Dealers presents the exposures it is actually written on, with the governed classifications and option lists for the state and the effective date.

Repeating exposures repeat. Referrals surface as referrals rather than as a failed request. And every premium carries its worksheet: each step, the value it used, and where that value came from, which layer and which version. That is the artifact an audit asks for, and it exists whether the rating came from the Workbench or from your own system over the Rating API.

Rating integrity, provenance and audit

New business and renewal

Equipment Dealers rates new business and renewal. Each transaction resolves the content and the program versions in force at its own effective date, so a renewal is rated on what applies at renewal and the expiring term keeps what it was written on.

The rest of the policy lifecycle runs on the same platform and the same governed model. Ask us where it stands for the products in your program.

How lifecycle rating works

Common questions

Can we change the filed AAIS values?

No. The filed base is read only. You configure the company and program values your carrier has authorized on top of it.

Does renewal rating work on this product?

Yes. New business and renewal both rate on Equipment Dealers, each resolving the versions in force at its own effective date.

How do we prove a premium two years from now?

Every rating run is retained with its worksheet and the configuration version behind each step, and a quote re-rated for that date resolves the same content.
